Bella is an artist, art educator and mother based in Midcoast Maine. In her studio practice, she pushes the limitations of color through various methods of representation and abstraction. Through gestural brushstrokes, Bella intentionally highlights the beauty of imperfection created by the human hand.

Her subject matter stems from the everyday world around her. As an avid trail runner and a mother of two small children, she often mixes elements of nature and childlike wonder in her artwork. She is deeply inspired by motherhood and the rural landscape of coastal New England.

As an art educator, she has worked in a variety of settings including public & private schools, museums, and alternative learning environments. She creates process-based lessons where the child is encouraged to explore, experiment and express themselves without worrying about the finished product. She incorporates non-traditional art making tools and techniques, such as hammering nails or tinkering with found objects. She also uses recycled materials whenever possible, often teaching her students to give new life to forgotten objects, recyclables and trash.
